Animal Advocacy

JD Parsons is the front man for the Band Early Melodic Animal, he is also a vegan.  I had the opportunity to learn more about his vegan journey and what he is doing to help the animals.

“As a child I was always fascinated with Animals. My grandpa gave me a sculpture of an Indian and a wolf (which is now tattooed on my arm). The face of this sculpture was half wolf half Indian and from then on it gave me this notion that animals and humans are the same and on equal footing in this world.

Posters of wolves and giraffes would litter my apartment during my 20s and I was often the brunt of jokes but I felt I had a connection and a calling. When I would play guitar (sober) I’d picture myself in the woods with wolves and other animals howling about and making wonderful music together.

These visions stopped when I found out how America was producing their food. Slaughtering and abusing animals that have no say in the matter. I was convinced that the only way give them a voice was to stop purchasing animal products entirely. I’ve gone beyond that by launching in conjunction with my rock band a documentary on how to help protect farm animals and endangered species from being victims of human insensitivity.

My work with the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary will bring awareness and the necessary funds to keep this operation going.”
